An app password is a provider-generated passcode that gives Unroll.Me permission to access your email account. Currently, we only support app password generation for Gmail and Yahoo. App passwords for Gmail can only be used with accounts that have 2-step verification turned on.
Unroll.Me offers each user the option to generate an app password automatically or manually during the sign up process. So, what's the difference?
By selecting "Generate Automatically," Unroll.Me goes through the process of generating an app password from your email provider, copying it to the clipboard, and inputting it into the password field for you to complete the sign up process. This entire process happens behind the scenes and in a fraction of the time it normally takes.
For those who would like to generate their app passwords manually, selecting "Generate Manually" will take you through the process that Unroll.Me would go through behind the scenes if you had selected "Generate Automatically."
